PHILADELPHIA — New testimony presented in court today offered a disturbing glimpse into the final hours of Kada Scott, the 23-year-old Philadelphia woman whose death has led to murder charges against Keon King.
King appeared in court for a preliminary hearing, where prosecutors outlined evidence they say links him to Scott’s disappearance and death.
A key witness, identified as a former co-worker of Scott, testified about unusual and alarming behavior observed on the night Scott vanished.
According to the testimony, Kada Scott arrived for her overnight work shift at approximately 10:00 p.m. when she immediately received a phone call.
The co-worker told the court that Scott became visibly shaken during the call and was heard saying, “I can’t believe you’re calling me.” The witness described Scott as emotional, with tears in her eyes, and appearing frightened.
The co-worker further testified that an SUV was seen in the workplace parking lot that night.
Prosecutors indicated that the vehicle later disappeared and are attempting to connect it to Keon King as part of their case.
During the hearing, prosecutors also presented photographs of the shallow grave where Scott’s body was later discovered.
The images caused visible distress among family members present in the courtroom.
Several relatives reportedly left the room, overcome with emotion, while others were seen crying as the evidence was shown.
Keon King has been charged in connection with Scott’s killing, though formal murder charges have not yet been adjudicated at trial. The purpose of the preliminary hearing is to determine whether enough evidence exists to move the case forward.
Kada Scott’s family continues to seek justice as the investigation proceeds. Court officials indicated that additional hearings are expected as prosecutors continue building their case.
