Former British royal Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor

19 de febrero de 2026

Former British royal Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, previously known as Prince Andrew, has been arrested by Thames Valley Police in connection with an investigation linked to newly disclosed materials commonly referred to as the “Epstein Files,” according to law enforcement sources in England.

Police confirmed that a man in his 60s was taken into custody on suspicion of misconduct in public office.

While authorities did not officially identify the individual, they acknowledged that officers executed search warrants at two properties located in Berkshire and Norfolk.

Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor was detained at Sandringham House in Norfolk, where he has been residing following his departure from Royal Lodge in Berkshire.

The investigation reportedly stems from allegations that, in 2010, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor may have shared confidential British trade information while serving as the United Kingdom’s Special Representative for International Trade and Investment.

He held that position for approximately a decade.

The inquiry follows calls from anti-monarchy campaign groups urging authorities to examine whether any improper disclosures occurred during his association with Jeffrey Epstein.

Jeffrey Epstein, the American financier who was convicted of sex offenses involving minors, died in 2019 while in federal custody in New York awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges.

Documents released in the United States by the Department of Justice have renewed public scrutiny of individuals linked to Epstein, including Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor.

The released materials include photographs and records referencing Epstein’s social circle.

Thames Valley Police stated that the arrest was made in accordance with national legal procedures and emphasized that investigations are ongoing.

Under United Kingdom law, misconduct in public office is a serious offense that can carry significant penalties if proven in court.

King Charles III issued a brief public statement following the arrest, saying, “The law must take its course,” and declining to comment further.

Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor stepped back from official royal duties in 2019 amid controversy surrounding his past relationship with Jeffrey Epstein.

He was later stripped of his honorary military titles and patronages.

Authorities have not yet announced formal charges. Legal representatives for Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor have not issued a public response at this time.

The investigation remains active, and police have indicated that additional updates will be provided as warranted.
