Savannah Guthrie has issued another emotional public plea as the search for her missing mother, Nancy Guthrie, stretches deeper into its second week, while federal investigators confirm a significant forensic development in the case.
In a video shared on Instagram on Sunday, Feb. 15, Savannah Guthrie addressed the individual or individuals believed to be responsible for the disappearance of her 84-year-old mother, who was last seen on Jan. 31 at her home in Tucson, Arizona.
“I wanted to say to whoever has her, or who knows where she is, that it’s never too late,” Savannah said in the video. “You’re not lost, or alone, and it is never too late to do the right thing.”
The “Today” co-anchor added, “We are here, and we believe. We believe in the essential goodness of every human being. And it’s never too late.”
Savannah Guthrie has remained in Tucson since her mother’s disappearance and is expected to be absent from NBC’s “Today” for the foreseeable future.
According to network sources, colleagues including Hoda Kotb and Craig Melvin have expressed public support for their longtime co-anchor during the ongoing investigation.
Nancy Guthrie was reported missing on Feb. 1 after failing to attend a previously scheduled church gathering.
The Pima County Sheriff’s Department later confirmed that evidence found at the residence led authorities to treat the case as a suspected abduction.
Sheriff Chris Nanos has stated publicly that investigators believe Nancy did not leave her home voluntarily.
Federal authorities, including the FBI’s Phoenix field office, have since joined the investigation.
FBI Director Kash Patel previously confirmed that federal resources were deployed to assist local law enforcement.
On Sunday, an FBI spokesperson confirmed that a glove recovered during the search contains a DNA profile believed to match the gloves worn by the masked suspect captured on Nancy Guthrie’s doorbell security footage.
The glove was found approximately two miles from her residence.
Investigators collected multiple gloves in the surrounding area; however, most were determined to belong to volunteer searchers.
The glove containing the unidentified DNA profile is considered distinct and has been sent for laboratory analysis and quality control confirmation before entry into the FBI’s national DNA database.
Surveillance footage released earlier by authorities shows a masked individual wearing gloves and a holstered firearm outside Nancy Guthrie’s home on the night she disappeared.
The suspect has been described as a male approximately 5-foot-9 to 5-foot-10 with an average build.
Law enforcement officials have not announced any arrests directly tied to the disappearance.
However, authorities continue to process tips and forensic evidence. The FBI has offered a reward for information leading to Nancy Guthrie’s location and the arrest and conviction of those involved.
Savannah Guthrie has repeatedly used her platform to appeal for her mother’s safe return.
In previous statements, she appeared alongside her siblings, Annie Guthrie and Camron Guthrie, asking for proof of life and urging anyone with information to come forward.
As the investigation intensifies, family members, colleagues and supporters across the country continue to rally around the Guthrie family, holding onto hope that Nancy Guthrie will be found and returned safely.
