NEW ALBANY, Ind. — NFL wide receiver Rondale Moore, who most recently played for the Minnesota Vikings, was found deceased Saturday night in New Albany, Indiana, according to local authorities. He was 25 years old.
Law enforcement officials confirmed that emergency responders were called to a residence in the area, where Moore was pronounced dead at the scene. Police indicated that the preliminary investigation points to a suspected self-inflicted gshot wound. Authorities added that there were no immediate signs of fl play and that the case remains under standard review by the local coroner’s office.
Rondale Moore was a standout athlete whose football career began in New Albany before rising to national prominence at Purdue University. As a freshman in 2018, he earned multiple honors, including Big Ten Freshman of the Year, after a record-setting season that established him as one of college football’s most dynamic playmakers.
Moore was selected in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft by the Arizona Cardinals. During his professional career, he was known for his speed, versatility and ability to contribute as both a receiver and return specialist. He later joined the Minnesota Vikings, continuing his NFL journey.
The Minnesota Vikings organization released a brief statement expressing condolences to Moore’s family, friends and former teammates. The Arizona Cardinals also acknowledged his passing, remembering him as a dedicated player and respected teammate.
