A violent incident in Chicago has left a young woman dead and a community shaken after a daylight sh00ting unfolded in the Auburn Gresham neighborhood, according to authorities.
The event occurred Wednesday afternoon on a residential street, where at least three armed individuals were captured on video running toward a white sedan and firing repeatedly.
The footage, recorded by a nearby witness, shows the suspects approaching the vehicle after it had collided with an SUV, while people in the area sought cover in fear.
The passenger in the targeted vehicle, Gabryel Ayers, 26, sustained multiple g*nsh0t injuries and was transported to a local hospital, where she later passed away despite medical efforts.
The driver, a 27-year-old man whose name has not been publicly released, was also injured and remains hospitalized with non-life-threatening wounds.
Investigators confirmed that a baby girl was inside the back seat of the car at the time of the incident.
The child was found unharmed, secured in her car seat, holding a lollipop when officers reached the scene. Authorities have not clarified whether the child is related to either adult involved.
After the attack, the suspects reportedly fled the area in a red Alfa Romeo, firing additional sh0ts as they escaped. Police have not announced any arrests and continue to search for those responsible.
The Chicago Police Department is actively reviewing surveillance footage, witness accounts, and physical evidence to determine the motive behind the attack.
Officials have urged anyone with information to come forward, emphasizing the importance of community cooperation in resolving the case.
The loss of Gabryel Ayers has prompted renewed concern among residents about public safety and v10lence in the area, particularly incidents occurring in broad daylight.
Community leaders are calling for increased intervention efforts as the investigation remains ongoing.
