BRONX, NEW YORK — November 6, 2026. A family originally from Ghana is mourning the heartbreaking l0ss of 15-year-old Javits Frimpong, who was sh0t while walking to school in the Claremont neighborhood of the Bronx on Thursday, October 29.
The incident occurred shortly before 9:30 a.m. near East 171st Street and Crotona Place, close to Crotona Park.
According to authorities, Javits suffered a serious inj0ry to his abdomen. Police officers transported him to St. Barnabas Hospital, where he later l0st his l1fe.

His father, Thomas Frimpong, said his son had moved from Ghana to the United States approximately one year earlier to begin a new chapter of his life.
Thomas described Javits as a quiet, intelligent, and respectful young man who attended school regularly and dreamed of becoming a doctor.
The grieving father also raised concerns about alleged bullying at DreamYard Preparatory School.
According to Thomas, his son had complained about being mistreated by other students, and two students had reportedly been suspended following a previous disagreement.
Thomas believes those circumstances may be connected to what happened to his son. However, investigators have not established any connection between the school incidents and the sh00ting.
Authorities are searching for three teenage suspects believed to be between 16 and 18 years old. Investigators have examined surveillance footage showing individuals leaving the area.
As of the latest available information, no arrests have been announced.
Meanwhile, Javits’ mother traveled from Ghana to New York after receiving an emergency visa. Her arrival allowed her to join relatives and community members mourning her only son.
Hundreds of people gathered in the Bronx on November 5 to remember Javits and demand answers.
Family members, teachers, friends, and members of the Ghanaian community continue honoring his memory while asking authorities to bring those responsible to justice.
The investigation remains ongoing, and the motive has not been officially determined.
